Our Story
Island Alliance Church is part of the Christian & Missionary Alliance, and our journey began in a living room—with a Bible, a few people, and a vision.
In 1987, Jeff Ernst started a small Bible study in a home in Kent Island Estates. As the group grew, it moved from a fire station to a school cafeteria and two different office buildings.
Tim Allen took over as pastor in 1990. Seven years later, God opened the door for us to purchase the former Kent Island Building Supply property. We finally had a permanent home to gather, worship, and serve.
Thomas Leonard became our third pastor in 2004, and continues to lead Island Alliance with wisdom and faithfulness to this day. Under his leadership, the church has walked through seasons of both joy and challenge - including a major restoration project after tornado damage in 2017. Through it all, God has been faithful.
In 2021, Craig Fadel joined the pastoral team, bringing vision and energy for the next season. This season has been marked by renewed focus on multiplying disciples, raising up servant-leaders, and planting new churches.
Harvest's Story
By 2023, Island Alliance had grown to the point that we needed more space—and more opportunities to reach others. We knew it was time for our vision to be actualized and plant our first church.
After prayer and careful research, we felt led to Centreville. In 2024, we purchased and renovated the old YMCA, and on Easter Sunday, the new church held its very first service.
Now, in 2025, Harvest Alliance Church is thriving. With its own leadership team, growing ministries, and ties to the community, it’s an exciting expression of the same mission. Though we are now two churches, we continue to walk closely together—cheering each other on as we reach more people for Jesus.
From humble beginnings to church planting, God has faithfully led us every step of the way. We're excited for what’s ahead—and invite you to be part of this journey with us!
