CloseWhere is the Power of God? Romans 1:16-17 Main Point: Through the Gospel of Jesus Christ God has given us the power of salvation, and righteousness through faith. 1. What is the Gospel? Jesus Christ, God’s Son, gave his life as a sacrifice, and shed his blood as an atonement for our sins, and was raised from the dead, raised to life for our justification. 2. We must not be ashamed of this Gospel of Jesus Christ for it is the power of God for salvation! Paul is not ashamed of this Gospel of Jesus Christ! 3. The power of the Gospel saves us! *‘It is the power of God for salvation’ v.16 = ‘sodzo’ = saved fully, wholly - saved from the penalty of sin, the power of sin, and ultimately the presence of sin. Thru the Gospel we are saved from the penalty of sin and we are justified by faith (chps 1-5). ‘Faith’ = conviction as true, believing so that I am convinced, and rely upon it. ‘Righteous’ = being right with, acceptable to God – in relationship and moral character.
