CloseIMMANUEL, GOD WITH US MATTHEW 1:18-25 The meaning of Christmas is the Christ Child is Immanuel, God with us! 1. God desired a relationship with His children. Verse 23 *God, the Father, Son & Spirit are One. (Deut. 4:6); for the first time, the Son would leave this perfect, divine relationship and come to the earth. (John 16:28) He is Immanuel, God with us! 2. God let His Son become fully human/flesh. Verse 20 The Son, fully God, became fully human and endured all the experience and perplexity of human experience, yet was without sin. (Hebrews 4:15) Therefore, He can understand and sympathize with our weakness. 3. God let his Son die and be raised to provide the gift of salvation. (vv. 21-23) Jesus, the Christ, the Son of God, was the only one who could take our penalty for our sin. He proved His sacrifice was sufficient because God raised Him from death and He now offers us the gift of forgiveness and new life through His indwelling Spirit. (Galatians 4:4-6) Have you received God’s Christmas gift of love, grace & forgiveness by receiving Jesus Christ into your life?
