Knowing God

Knowing God The difference between knowing about God and truly knowing God is critical to our development as a people who are eternally loved by their creator. How do we pursue an intimate knowledge of God? - Jeremiah 6:16 - The Ancient Path Submission vs. Sacrifice - Eternal Life: John 17:1-5 - Joy & Contentment: Jeremiah 9:23-24 - The Pleasure of God: Hosea 6:6; 1 Samuel 15:22; Micah 6:8; Isaiah 1:11-18 Meditation - “turning each truth that we learn about God into a matter of meditation before God, leading to prayer and praise to God” (Packer, Knowing God). Isaiah 1:17-18 - 17 learn to do right! Seek justice, encourage the oppressed. Defend the cause of the fatherless, plead the case of the widow. - 18 "Come now, let us reason together," says the LORD. "Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool. Service - 2 Corinthian 8:9 “For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich.” - If we are to be Christ-like, how does this translate into action on our part? In our pursuit we must not forget that knowing God is not of supreme importance...being known by God is (Matt 7:23).
