CloseLove & Obedience John 14:15-27 Main Point: Our love for Jesus must translate into obedience to His teachings and commands. v. 15, v. 21, v. 23 *John echoes this teaching in His letter - I John 2:3-6 ~Can’t obey without the Holy Spirit’s power – that’s why Jesus asked the Father to send Him. Have you repented and put your faith in Jesus Christ?! What are His commands and teachings? 1. Repent and believe the Good News! Mark 1:14-15 2. Love God with all your heart. Mt. 22:37 & Mk. 12:30 -Don’t have any idols -Honor & worship ME first (Everyday & includes church) -glorify & serve ME only in your life (practical aspect) 3. Love your neighbor as yourself. Mt. 22:39 & Mk. 12:31 -forgive as you have been forgiven (did you deserve it?!) -do good to others (Golden rule – we want their good) -Love one another (as I have loved you) John 13:34 -live in peace (if possible as far as depends on you Rom.12:18 4. Share the Good News of Christ’s forgiveness! Mt. 28:19 -tell people that Christ died for their sins! Matthew 26:28 -tell people that they can be forgiven and have new life! John 3:16-18 *The indwelling Spirit will teach you all things and remind you of Jesus’ words. v. 26. *Jesus gives us His peace as we live this out in this crazy world. v. 27
