A message from the series “Romans.” Our Father Abraham !
Main Point:
We must have a faith like Abraham – believe God raised Jesus from the dead, so that we can be his offspring and inherit the promise!
Genesis 18:17-19 The promise to Abraham confirmed
Believe (pisteuo) = to be persuaded, to be convinced of its truth > to take God at His Word!
1. Abraham believed against hope in God’s promise, therefore,
he inherited the promise, and righteousness was credited
to him. (verses 18-21)
Credit = to reckon, count it towards one’s account
2. We must have a believing response to God’s provision of salvation through His Son, Jesus Christ – ‘He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to Life for our justification.’ (verses 23-25)
3. We also inherit the promise as Abraham’s offspring – we
will be heirs of the world through our victorious Messiah!
(verses 4-5) Romans 5:17 Revelations 5:9-10

1. Our ways and thoughts are not often God’s ways and
thoughts!
Isaiah 55:8-9
2. He often asks us a question to get us to consider what we
are doing and thinking.
(verses 9,13)
Genesis 3:9 Genesis 4:6,9
3. He will communicate to us if we will truly listen with Spiritual
discernment !
I Corinthians 2:13-14

A message from the series “Romans.” Believe Like Abraham!
Romans 4:1-12
Main Point:
We are called to have a faith like Abraham – to believe God so that righteousness is credited to us.
Genesis 12:1-3 Abraham’s call
Believe (pisteuo) = to be persuaded, to be convinved of its truth > to take God at His Word! (God is behind it!)
1. Abraham had a believing response to God’s promise, and it was credited to him as righteousness. (verses 1-3)
Credit = to reckon, count it towards one’s account
Genesis 15:1-6
2. We cannot gain righteousness by works, for a wage given to one who works is not a gift, but an obligation – and we cannot gain
righteousness by works of the Law (3:20). (verses 4-5)
3. We must have a believing response to God’s provision of salvation through His Son, Jesus Christ’s sacrificial atonement so that it is
credited to us as righteousness! (verses 11b-12)
Romans 3:21-22

A message from the series “Romans.” How God Prepared Us for His Son
Romans 3:1-20
Main Point:
God gave His very Words to His people so that we will understand that we are not righteous and cry out to Him for mercy and grace!
1. God has shown us through His Word that all of us (Jews & Gentiles) have sinned and are unrighteous before Him. (verses 9-18)
2. The inability of us to fully obey the Law is not a license to sin. (verses 5-8)

A message from the series “Romans.” Are We Honoring God’s Name?
Romans 2:17-24

A message from the series “Romans.” Unrighteous Judgment
Romans 2:1-11
Main Point:
We must not make unrighteous judgments by failing in the same ways, rather, let us live and judge rightly like God with kindness, tolerance, and patience.
Judge (krino) = ‘to distinguish between right and wrong (and in this context – ‘with the implication to condemn’).’
Condemn – v.1 (katakrino) = ‘to sentence; judge worthy of punishment.’
1. We often judge others in the very same areas we fail in,
thus condemning ourselves! (verses 1,3)
Matthew 7:1-5
2. Only God can judge rightly as He is righteous and His judgment is based on truth.
(verse 2)
1Samuel 16:7
Jeremiah 17:10
3. Let us live righteously, and judge rightly with kindness, tolerance, and patience towards others, like God does with us!
(verses 4-6)
Kindness, tolerance and patience toward others’ failures – not towards sin!
James 2:12-13

A message from the series “Romans.” Are You Making Excuses?!
Romans 1:18-2:6
Main Point:
We cannot make excuses of ignorance nor of our wickedness before God, for He will judge us – rather, through repentance and faith in Christ, we must seek to do good, and be righteous.
1. God has made His invisible attributes plain to us – His eternal power and divine nature are clearly seen and understood in the visible creation, so that all are without excuse for unbelief. verses 18-20
Psalm 19:1-4
*Rejecting and suppressing the knowledge of God through wickedness leads to God’s Wrath wherein He turns us over to a darkened, depraved mind, and futile thinking that leads to idolatry and perverse sensuality verses 21-28
‘Wrath’ (orga) = anger, indignation, and retribution of evil – it is an attribute of God that fulfills His justice
‘Gave them over’ = to give one up into the hands of another> God gives us over to the control of the sin we are embracing (in rebellion to Him).
*His Wrath is being revealed in that He turns us over to our sin and it dominates/contols us, and the result is a depraved mind.
2. Only God is able to rightly judge another, for we fail and are guilty – and therefore we must not judge (condemn) others. verses 2:1-4
Matthew 7:1-5
3. God’s kindness is to lead us to repentance where we escape His Wrath & are made right with Him thru faith in Jesus Christ, and are empowered to live a righteous life. verses 2:4-7
*There is also a Day of God’s Wrath coming – it will be judgment and spiritual death. Nahum 1:2-3 > II Thessalonians 1:7-8
Have you come to true repentance and put your faith in the Gospel of Jesus Christ?!!
Philippians 2:12
