Message: “Is Any One of You Sick?” from Tom Leonard

A message from the series “Luke.” Unrighteous Judging!
Luke 6:37-38

Main Point: Messiah Jesus teaches us that we are not to make unrighteous judgments or to condemn but rather forgive and give grace.

Judge (krino) = distinguish, decide, (by implication – condemn).

* We are called to evaluate fruit! (verses 43-45)

Matthew 7:1-2

Unrighteous Judgment is judging the value/worth of the person based on their actions/attitude.

1. We are not to make unrighteous judgments or condemn because only God is the One who can righteously judge.
(verse 37)

James 4:12

Romans 2:1-4 Since we are subject to sin, failures and mistakes, we have no right to judge another on the basis of theirs!

2. Rather, we are to ‘give’ to others forgiveness and grace as has been given to us.
(verses 37-38)

Matthew 5:7 Blessed are those who are merciful for they will be shown mercy.

God is merciful and kind to all of us – even when we were ungrateful and wicked. (verses 35-36)

Romans 5:6-8

2. We are not to retaliate against those who abuse us or take from us as Christ followers, but turn the other cheek, and do to them as you would have them do to you! (verses 29-31)

Message: “Correcting the Sabbath View” from Tom Leonard

A message from the series “Luke.” Correcting the Sabbath View
Luke 6:1-11

Main Point:Messiah Jesus, Lord of the Sabbath, declares it was right and lawful to do good and save life on the Sabbath, which we should do always!

‘Sabbath’ (Hebrew Shabat) = Seventh, cessation, time of rest.

1. The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath.
(Mark 2:27)

*What they were teaching was ‘doing evil, and destroying life.’
(verse 9)

2. To cease from work, and to rest on the Sabbath did not preclude doing good and saving life!
(verses 9-10)

3.Messiah Jesus, the Son of Man, is Lord of the Sabbath.
(verses 3-5)

His Correction is authoritative!

I Timothy 6:17b ‘…God richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.’
