Message: “Foolish to Not Believe ” from Tom Leonard

A message from the series “Not Part of a Series.” Foolish Not To Believe
Luke 24:13-27

Main Point:
The risen Jesus Christ calls us to faith in Him as Messiah (Christ) of which Moses and the prophets had spoken.

1. The account: Jesus was crucified, dead and buried but some of the women and disciples found the grave empty, and angels appeared to the women.
verses 20-24

Eyewitness account of the risen Jesus – John 20:10-18

2. The prophecy: Jesus explains that Moses and all the prophets foretold His passion and resurrection.
verses 25-27

Isaiah 53:10-11

3. The Challenge: Jesus challenges these two and all of us to put our faith in Him as the risen Messiah who died for our sins and rose from the dead for our salvation.
verse 25

Jesus words to us recorded in
John 5:24, “I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes Him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life.”

Message: “Our Hero is Here!” from Tom Leonard

A message from the series “Not Part of a Series.” Our Hero is Here!
Matthew 21:1-11

Main Point:
Jesus challenges our motives and agenda; He wants to accomplish His purposes in our lives, not ours!

1. The People praised Jesus when He came riding into Jerusalem as the ‘King’, expecting that He would accomplish their agenda. verse 9

‘Hosanna’ (Hebrew – ‘Hosha’na’) = ‘Save’ or ‘Salvation’ – an exclamation of praise, but it had taken on a political meaning.

2. Jesus fulfilled the prophecy from Zechariah regarding the coming King in the line of David. verses 4-5

*‘Donkey’ – a humble beast but used of Kings (2 Samuel 13:29)

*Spreading the palms – an act of royal homage.

3. They believed Jesus was a ‘prophet’ – they were right and wrong! verse 11

*Deuteronomy 18:15
