Luke 6:27-36

Main Point:
The heart of Jesus’ teaching is that we are to love like God loves – being kind and merciful to all as He has been to us!

I John 4:7-12

Agape = unconditional commitment to one’s good.

1. God is merciful and kind to all – even the ungrateful and the wicked. (verses 35-36)

Matthew 5:44-45

Lamentations 3:22 “Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail.”

2. We are to love our enemies, do good to those who hate us – even lend freely to them, bless and pray for those who curse and mistreat us! (verses 27-31)

Jesus’ example – I Peter 2:23-24 – He loved them by giving His life!

3. As we do this, our future reward will be great and we will show ourselves to be sons & daughters of God Most High! (verse 35)

Matthew 7:7-12

Main Point:
Our Heavenly Father will give
good gifts for our needs when we
seek Him in faith, so that we can
also bless others!

Gifts = not deserved, but from His grace.

James 2:2-3 “… you do not have, because you do not ask God. When you ask, you do not receive because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.”

1. Father God loves us, wants to meet our needs and give us good gifts – but we must ask, seek and knock!
verses 7-8

*Ask – Assumes we know correctly what our needs are.

*Seek – Inquiring, looking carefully

Knock – To rap vigorously,energetically, adamantly.

2. Verses 9-10 An analogy from good human parents!

3. Verses 11 > 12 The way that God blesses us, is the way we, in turn, are to bless others!

Verse 12 In so doing, we Fulfill the Law and the
Prophets – the whole intent of God’s law towards each other!

3. We must be full of grace to be ready !

Salt – makes one thirsty,and makes things tasty!
