Matthew 7:7-12

Main Point:
Our Heavenly Father will give
good gifts for our needs when we
seek Him in faith, so that we can
also bless others!

Gifts = not deserved, but from His grace.

James 2:2-3 “… you do not have, because you do not ask God. When you ask, you do not receive because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.”

1. Father God loves us, wants to meet our needs and give us good gifts – but we must ask, seek and knock!
verses 7-8

*Ask – Assumes we know correctly what our needs are.

*Seek – Inquiring, looking carefully

Knock – To rap vigorously,energetically, adamantly.

2. Verses 9-10 An analogy from good human parents!

3. Verses 11 > 12 The way that God blesses us, is the way we, in turn, are to bless others!

Verse 12 In so doing, we Fulfill the Law and the
Prophets – the whole intent of God’s law towards each other!

A message from the series “Colossians.” Being Ready for Christ
Colossians 4:2-6

Main Point: We must be ready to share the message of Christ clearly at every opportunity the Lord gives us!

Our Mission: to love Jesus and love others to Jesus!

We are committed to: Reaching, growing, serving and multiplying.

1. We must be prayed up to be ready !
verses 2-3

We must be devoted to prayer – in the closet and on the move.
Looking for opportunities !

2. We must be wise to be ready!
verses 4-5

Know the message – clearly!

3. We must be full of grace to be ready !
verse 6

Salt – makes one thirsty,and makes things tasty!

Message: “Serving Christ in My Work” from Tom Leonard

A message from the series “Colossians.” Serving Christ in My Work
Colossians 3:22 – 4:1

Main Point
We are to work at our jobs as working for Christ and we will receive a reward of inheritance from the Lord.

Assumption of context – master and slave are saved and submitted to the Lord!

*Are you saved and submitted to the Lord?!

II Thessalonians 3:10 ‘If anyone refuses to work, let them not eat.’

1. Whatever job we do, we must do it with all our hearts (integrity!), not only to win favor from our employer, but with reverence for the Lord! verse 22

Ephesians 6:5-9

Our work is our Witness!

I Peter 2:12

2. Whatever job we do (Employers as well), we must understand that we are working for the Lord! verses 22-24

Our work is our Worship!

3. The Lord wants to reward us when we work to please Him; but, understand, wrongdoing will be repaid! verses 24-25

Our work brings Eternal Reward!

Message: “Serving Christ In My Family, Part II” from Tom Leonard

A message from the series “Colossians.” Main Point:
We are to honor and serve Christ in our family and we will see the blessings of God manifested in all these relationships.

Assumption is that you are saved and submitted to the Lord

1. Wives are to submit to their husbands as is fitting in the Lord. verse 18

‘Submit’ = To put under the appointed order.

2. Husbands are to Love their wives and are not to be harsh with them. verse 19

‘Love’ (agape) = unconditional, self sacrificing commitment for my Wife’s good.

3. Children are to obey their parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord. verse 20

‘Obey’ = Listen attentively and heed – do what they say!

4.Fathers/Mothers do not embitter your children or they will become discouraged. verse 21

‘Embitter’ = Provoke to anger & bitterness.
