Message: “The God Who is not Hidden ” from Tom Leonard

A message from the series “Not Part of a Series.” The God Who is not Hidden
Romans 1:18-25

Main Point:
God has revealed His nature and knowledge of Himself through Creation, therefore, no one has excuse for rejecting the truth.

Verse 25 – not much different today!

1. The knowledge of God, His eternal power and divine nature, are clearly seen from the creation. (vvs. 19-20)

2. People who reject this knowledge of God (and suppress the truth by wickedness) are without excuse, and God’s wrath is on them – He gives them over (abandons) to their sin and depravity.
(vvs. 18, 24)

3. The Result: ‘Their thinking became futile, their hearts darkened, and they became fools’. (vvs. 21-22)

Message: “Knowing God” from Christoph Koenig

A message from the series “Not Part of a Series.” Knowing God

The difference between knowing about God and truly knowing God is critical to our development as a people who are eternally loved by their creator.

How do we pursue an intimate knowledge of God?
– Jeremiah 6:16 – The Ancient Path

Submission vs. Sacrifice
– Eternal Life: John 17:1-5
– Joy & Contentment: Jeremiah 9:23-24
– The Pleasure of God: Hosea 6:6; 1 Samuel 15:22; Micah 6:8; Isaiah 1:11-18

Meditation
– “turning each truth that we learn about God into a matter of meditation before God, leading to prayer and praise to God” (Packer, Knowing God).

Isaiah 1:17-18
– 17 learn to do right! Seek justice, encourage the oppressed. Defend the cause of the fatherless, plead the case of the widow.
– 18 “Come now, let us reason together,” says the LORD. “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.

Service
– 2 Corinthian 8:9 “For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich.”
– If we are to be Christ-like, how does this translate into action on our part?

In our pursuit we must not forget that knowing God is not of supreme importance…being known by God is (Matt 7:23).

Message: “Immanuel, God With Us!” from Tom Leonard

A message from the series “Not Part of a Series.” IMMANUEL, GOD WITH US
MATTHEW 1:18-25

The meaning of Christmas is the Christ Child is Immanuel, God with us!

1. God desired a relationship with His children. Verse 23

*God, the Father, Son & Spirit are One. (Deut. 4:6); for the first time, the Son would leave this perfect, divine

relationship and come to the earth. (John 16:28)

He is Immanuel, God with us!

2. God let His Son become fully human/flesh. Verse 20

The Son, fully God, became fully human and endured all the experience and perplexity of human experience, yet was

without sin. (Hebrews 4:15)

Therefore, He can understand and sympathize with our weakness.

3. God let his Son die and be raised to provide the gift of salvation. (vv. 21-23)

Jesus, the Christ, the Son of God, was the only one who could take our penalty for our sin.

He proved His sacrifice was sufficient because God raised Him from death and He now offers us the gift of

forgiveness and new life through His indwelling Spirit. (Galatians 4:4-6)

Have you received God’s Christmas gift of love, grace & forgiveness by receiving Jesus Christ into your life?

Message: “Charisma vs. Charismania” from Tom Leonard

A message from the series “Not Part of a Series.” Charisma vs. Charismania!
I Corinthians 12:1-11

Main Point:
We must understand and use our spiritual gifts so that the Holy Spirit can accomplish His particular ministry

through us so that the body of Christ will be built up and strengthened.

1. Definition: Spiritual Gifts are special abilities given to us by His indwelling Spirit so that we can minister to

the needs of others.

verse 7 ‘Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.’

*Spiritual gifts are not a measure of spirituality!

2. Distribution: The Holy Spirit distributes gifts to every believer, uniquely working through their personality

and passion. (verses 4-6)

*There are a diversity of gifts, each equally important and necessary for the good of the body.

Romans 12:6-8; Ephesians 4:6-11

3. Discovery: Each of us are to discover and use our gifts so that the body will grow and mature, and Christ’s

ministry will be accomplished through us. (vv. 12-21)

I Peter 4:10-11

*If I don’t know or don’t use my gifts, the body will lack and Christ’s ministry will not be accomplished!
