CloseRepentance: What is it? Luke 24:44-53 Main Point: Jesus calls us to share the message of repentance for the forgive of sins to all people through the power of the Spirit. Repentance: What is it? 1. Repentance = ‘Change of mind, thinking/belief/conviction’ meaning - a reversal of what one is thinking, and doing as the outcome of that thinking. (verse 47) So what does Repentance here mean? Turn from unbelief, belief in self, or anything else – turn to faith in Jesus Christ *Essential element in repentance - turn away from ‘self’ control to ‘Christ’ control! I will live under the Lordship of Jesus Christ! (Gal. 2:20) >This is the prelude to forgiveness of sins. Isaiah 30:15 2. What follows forgiveness of sins > the call to be witnesses and share this message of repentance. (Verse 48) Ezekiel 36:24-27 > Jeremiah 31:33 We are called to rightly represent Him! Genesis 17:1 Exodus 19:5 Settle it! 3. Repentance is ongoing! Revelation 2:4-5 Ephesians 5:18 *Repentance is the path that brings forgiveness, and it is the path that brings empowerment. It is the beginning and continuation of this walk!
