Closehe Spirit Helps Us In Our Weakness Romans 8:26-28 Main Point: Jesus sent His Spirit to live in us and help us in our weakness that we may live as His witnesses in this world! John 14:16-18 Jesus promised to send the ‘ Helper ’ (paracletos) = ‘One who comes alongside, assists’, to be in us! Verse 26a - The Spirit assists us in our weakness. . Weakness (astheneo) = in infirmity, feebleness of mind or body, moral frailty . Assist = ‘to lay hold of along with.’ Verse 26b Example- We do not know how (or ‘what’) we ought to pray, but the Spirit intercedes for us… Intercede = speak to the Father on our behalf (regarding that in which we are weak). >With groans that words cannot express (unutterable) Verse 27 The Spirit intercedes for us in accordance with God’s will. New Living Translation – ‘And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God’s own will.’ Verse 28 A promise to lay hold of!
