CloseWitnessing While Waiting Acts 1:1-11 Main Point: While we wait for His return Jesus calls us to live in and witness to His resurrection through the indwelling Holy Spirit. *What are we doing in our lives that could not be done without God’s power? 1. He comes to live in us- Baptizes/fills us with power to live in new resurrection life. (verse 8) *The words baptize/fill/receive/come upon are used interchangeably, but emphasize different aspects of the Spirit’s work. *Receive = 'lay hold' of (a person) to use them. *Come upon = to arrive, overtake *Baptize = completely immerse – (Holy Spirit baptizes us = around us and in us > in contrast to John’s baptism of water/ repentance) *Fill = to fill up, fulfill as in supply Acts 1:8 > 2:4 > 8:14-17 2. The Holy Spirit’s power is also given to us to be witnesses of Christ. (verse 8) II Corinthians 5:17-20 3. We cannot live in His fullness if we are not filled everyday! Who has Jesus put in your circle of connection for you to witness to? Ephesians 5:15-18
