Message: “The Miraculous Conception” from Tom Leonard

A message from the series “Not Part of a Series.” The Miraculous Conception
Luke 1:26-38
Main Point:
The Miraculous Conception is the miracle of how the Son of God was conceived in the virgin maiden’s womb. We are to have a like Mary had!

She entrusted herself to God’s will, and she was used to bring fulfillment of Messiah’s birth.

1. A word about – it’s appropriate to remember this very special person, Mary – the mother of Jesus, because she was a woman of great trust and faith!

Who was Mary? We find Mary’s assessment of herself in 1:46-47 If she had no sin, there would be no need for a ‘Savior’ – she calls God her Savior.

2. So the Angel Gabriel speaks to her… verses 31-35
> She asks how will this be? Since I am a virgin? Lit ‘I know not a man.’ v.35b ‘Overshadow’ = envelope with a haze of brilliancy; fig. to .

This is the fulfillment of Isaiah 7:14 God’s prophetic Word – The sign of God’s deliverance coming to Israel.

3. You are to call Him Yeshua = ‘Yahweh .’
(verse 31)
The Incarnation – John 1:1-2, 14
*We must have the kind of faith Mary had, where we say
‘Lord, I am your servant; May your word to me be fulfilled.’

Message: “Power for Living” from Tom Leonard

A message from the series “Acts of the Apostles.” Power for Living
Acts 1:1-8
Main Point:
By His death and Resurrection, Jesus gives us the gift of His indwelling Spirit – He lives in us and gives us His life, fills and empowers us to be His witnesses to lost people.

1.The Primary purpose of the Holy Spirit’s work is to bring the Lord Jesus Christ into us John 14:16-17; Romans 8:9-10

Luke 3:16
*Water, baptizing you, goes all around you, but the Holy Spirit baptizing you goes all around, and all in you!

In v.8 Jesus says we will receive what? Power!
Water cannot empower but the Holy Spirit fills us with power!
(again, it’s not about power, but the HS brings power!)

2. Repentance and transformed living comes from the life of
Jesus in us by the Spirit.

John 16:12-15

3. Testimony of who Jesus Christ is and what He has done (witnessing) comes from the work of the Holy Spirit in us.

Acts 2:22-24

*All of us must be daily filled (= submitted to & controlled by) with the Spirit of Jesus Christ in us!

Message: “Intro to Acts: Jesus Ascends Part 2” from Tom Leonard

A message from the series “Acts of the Apostles.” Main Point: Because Jesus ascended, we can live in the power of the promised Spirit and witness to His resurrection!

1. Jesus’ ascension marked the completion & acceptance by God of Jesus’ work of redemption. John 4:34; 6:38
> Hebrews 1:3b ‘After He provided purification for sins, He sent down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.’
*Jesus’ finished work has brought us forgiveness and redemption. > Romans 3:24-25
>This is why Luke records Peter’s words in Acts 4:12…

2. Jesus’ ascension inaugurated the giving of the promised Spirit. verse 4.
Jesus taught this in John 16:7; 14:16-20, 25-26
> *So important Jesus tells them to wait for the Spirit.
Ezekiel 36:24-27; Jeremiah 31:33 > *This is the transforming of our minds and hearts we need to live and witness for Jesus!

The Spirit prepares us for the works we are to do! Eph.2:10

The Spirit releases the spiritual gifts God gives to us:
I Cor. 12:4-6 No longer ‘I have to do this’ > ‘I want to…’

3. Jesus ascension marked the return of the Lord Jesus to the Father – to the Glory He had before with the Father.
*Glory = full of honor, praise, worship John 14:28; 16:5;17:4-5

*We are to look forward to His return, but be focused on the
Mission He’s given us!

Message: “Repentance: What is It? Pt 2” from Tom Leonard

A message from the series “Luke.” Repentance: What is it?
Luke 24:44-53
Main Point:
Jesus calls us to share the message of repentance for the forgive of sins to all people through the power of the Spirit.

Repentance: What is it?
1. Repentance = ‘Change of mind, thinking/belief/conviction’ meaning – a reversal of what one is thinking, and doing as the outcome of that thinking. (verse 47)

So what does Repentance here mean? Turn from unbelief, belief in self, or anything else – turn to faith in Jesus Christ
*Essential element in repentance – turn away from ‘self’ control to ‘Christ’ control!

I will live under the Lordship of Jesus Christ! (Gal. 2:20)
>This is the prelude to forgiveness of sins. Isaiah 30:15

2. What follows forgiveness of sins > the call to be witnesses and share this message of repentance. (Verse 48)
Ezekiel 36:24-27 > Jeremiah 31:33

We are called to rightly represent Him! Genesis 17:1
Exodus 19:5 Settle it!

3. Repentance is ongoing! Revelation 2:4-5

Ephesians 5:18

*Repentance is the path that brings forgiveness, and it is the path that brings empowerment. It is the beginning and
continuation of this walk!
