Ezekiel 36:25-27

Main Point:
When we receive Jesus, He gives us a new spirit who transforms our heart so that we want to and do obey Him.

*Person of indwelling Christ – not a religion, a dynamic relationship with Jesus’ Spirit who lives in me!

1. The Spirit indwells us and transforms our hard heart. verse 26

verse 26 ‘I will remove your heart of stone… and give you a heart of flesh.’

Jeremiah 17:9 ‘The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?’

2. The Spirit indwells us and moves us to follow God’s commands. verse 27

verse 27 ‘Move you…’ = Cause you to, accomplish it in you.

*Power of the indwelling Christ – Jesus’ Spirit empowering me!

Romans 8:5-9 Spiritual transformation – the work of the Spirit in me!

Let us live in the fullness of the Spirit!

John 14:15-21

Main Point:
When we receive Jesus, He comes to be with us, and live in us by His Spirit, who is our ‘Counselor’, that we can know Him and live in Truth.

‘Counselor’ (paraklatos) = one who comes alongside to give aid/help.

*Person of indwelling Christ – not a religion, a relationship with Jesus who lives in me!

Our relationship with Christ is started by the Spirit, John 6:37-39, and sustained by the Spirit.

1. Jesus asked the Father to send another ‘counselor’ – one just like’ Jesus (the Way, the Truth and the Life). verse 16

2. The Spirit comes to live in us forever and not leave us as Jesus had to do. verse 17

Genesis 32:22-32
Main Point:
What do you really need from God right now? There are times when God only releases his blessings on us after a season of prolonged and even painful wrestling with him.

Matt. 7:7-8 Ask, seek, knock!

You and I need to lay hold of the blessing God has for us!

1. Is God wrestling with you – to deal with something in your life?
verses 24-25

Jacob = ‘ supplanter ’ (grasps the heel) > later – ‘Deceiver’

2. There are times we wrestle with God – because we know what we need and are finally desperate !

Main Point:
God is a generous, loving God who wants to bless His children through a personal relationship with Him. He wants to do immeasurable things, He wants to do ________________ __________________!

A message from the series “The Book of Hebrews.” Called To Grow & Not Fall Away
Hebrews 6:4-12

Main Point:
God calls us to grow into maturity in Christ and be fruitful, making our faith sure. We must not forsake Christ, for it will prove that our faith is false, not true saving faith.

1. If we have genuine faith, we will grow, persevere and bear fruit that accompanies salvation. verses 7-12

James 2:14-25

2. If we have genuine faith, though we will sin and fail, we will not fall away from Christ, for there is no other way of salvation. verses 4-8

The Danger: Hypothetical or real?

Hebrews 3:12-14

Hebrews 5:11-6:3

Main Point:
God wants us to grow on to maturity in our faith, moving off milk (the

elementary truths of the faith) to meat (righteous living).

I Peter 2:2-3 > Colossians 3:16

-God’s not going to do this for us!

1. We must make an to move forward to
build a foundation for maturity in our lives. verse

Commitment = Sticking to it- wether I feel like it or not

2. We grow on to maturity in our faith by constantly using
the Word which will train us (develop a pattern) which
enables us to discern good from evil. verse 5:14

John 6:48-63

Main Point:
We are to ‘ ’ – Jesus, that we may have true spiritual life and be raised up at the last day.

1. Eating and Drinking Jesus means to of
His life initially and continually. (verse 63)

I Corinthians 11:23-26

2. Jesus’ life is true spiritual food – it us.
(verses 54-55)

3. We must feed on Him on a basis.
(verses 56-57)

Colossians 2:6-7

Hebrews 5:7-10
Main Point
God has mercy and grace for us but He wants us to learn through our to His will that we may grow in our faith.

*Jesus was subject to weakness ( ) just as we are.

Hebrews 4:14-16
Main Point: Jesus, the Son of God, is our He will strengthen us so we can hold firmly to our faith especially when we are struggling and in need.

Their need was to hold firmly to the faith while undergoing persecution and hardship.

>Our need may be the same – we may have struggles, but also we battle apathy and lukewarmness; the deceit of the enemy!

Deuteronomy 30:15-20

Main Point:
The Lord calls us to love and obey Him wholeheartedly so that we will have a blessed life and enjoy His blessings!

Out of gratefulness for saving us, for He is our life! v.20b

Two kinds of blessing in Christ:

1. Positional (Justification) unconditional: We are blessed spiritually in Christ! These come from the obedience of Jesus Christ!
Ephesians 1:3, Hebrews 5:8-9

We are no longer under a curse: Galatians 3:13

2. Conditional (Sanctification) Blessings:
These come from our obedience to God’s will in Christ.

II Thessalonians 4:3-4

We can hinder our growth and the blessings of God in our lives!
