3.To partake without recognizing the Body of the Lord means:
(verse 29)
a. I don’t recognize that the elements in the Lord’s supper represent the shed blood and broken body of Jesus Christ – His sacrifice.
verses 24-27

b. I don’t recognize that we, His followers, are the spiritual body of Christ, and we are to treat each other with reverence and concern.
verse 29

4. We can bring judgement on ourselves by violating this – we are to understand that it’s God’s discipline to keep us from being condemned with the world of unbelievers. verses 29-32

A message from the series “Not Part of a Series.” Where is the Power of God?
Romans 1:16-17

Main Point:
Through the Gospel of Jesus Christ God has given us the power of salvation, and righteousness through faith.

1. What is the Gospel? Jesus Christ, God’s Son, gave his life as a sacrifice, and shed his blood as an atonement for our sins, and was raised from the dead, raised to life for our justification.

3. The power of the Gospel saves us!

*‘It is the power of God for salvation’ v.16 = ‘sodzo’ = saved fully, wholly – saved from the penalty of sin, the power of sin, and ultimately the presence of sin.

Thru the Gospel we are saved from the penalty of sin and we are justified by faith (chps 1-5).

‘Faith’ = conviction as true, believing so that I am convinced, and rely upon it.

‘Righteous’ = being right with, acceptable to God – in relationship and moral character.
