Message: “The Gift for Living” from Tom Leonard

A message from the series “The Book of Acts.” The Resurrection – The Gift for Living

Main Point: By His death and Resurrection, Jesus obtained the gift of the Holy Spirit for everyone of us who are His disciples. We receive Christ’s Spirit who lives in us, fills and empowers us to be witnesses to lost people.

Luke 24:44-49

1. Repentance & transformed living is the first and most powerful fruit of our Spirit-filled witness.

Acts 2:32-33; 36-39

This Jesus, God has raised to life, and we are all witnesses to this fact. Exalted to the right hand of God, He has received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit, and has poured out what you now see and hear. …”Therefore let all Israel be assured that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ.”

When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said, ‘Brothers, what shall we do?’ Peter replied ”Repent and be baptized, everyone of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”

Repentance = turning from our sin, and turning from trusting in ourselves or anything else – to trusting only in Jesus Christ.

Baptism is the outward sign of repentance!

2. Testimony of who Jesus Christ is and what He has done comes from the work of the Holy Spirit in us.

Acts 2:22-24

‘Men of Israel, listen to this: Jesus of Nazareth was a man accredited by God to you by miracles, wonders, and signs, which God did among you through Him, as you yourselves know. This man was handed over to you by God’s set purpose and
foreknowledge; and you, with the help of wicked men, put him to death by nailing Him to the cross. But God raised Him from the dead, freeing Him the agony of death, because it was impossible for death to keep its hold on Him.’

3. All of us must be daily filled = (controlled!) by the Spirit of Jesus Christ in us!

Ephesians 5:18

Message: “Believing Without Seeing” from Tom Leonard

A message from the series “Gospel of John.” Believing Without Seeing
John 20:24-31

Bloodline debunked: “digging for the truth” on the Da Vinci Code Youtube.com

Main Point: Jesus, the Christ, has overcome death for us; and by believing, we receive forgiveness of our sins and new life in Him.

1. What evidence/proof is there that He rose from the dead?

A. An empty tomb: verses 1-9
The ‘spin’ – Matthew 28:12-15

B. Numerous eyewitnesses: verses 14-20
I Corinthians 15:3-6 500 witnesses

2. There are those here today who have encountered the living, resurrected Christ whose lives have been

transformed!

3. If Jesus is who He claimed to be – the ‘Risen Christ, the Son of God,’ what must our response be?

We must receive Him into our lives as the Living Christ, and live our lives for Him as our Lord, our Master.

Romans 10:9-10

Message: “Scars Remain” from Christoph Koenig

A message from the series “Not Part of a Series.” Scars Remain
Col. 1:15-23
Psalm 139

The supremacy of Christ presents a short list of priorities.
– It’s not about what we know, but who we know.
– We were created by Christ and for Christ.
In the midst of the battle Christ brings peace.
– Once we were separated from God, but now Christ has made peace through His blood shed on the cross. (Col. 1:20)
It is in Christ that we are held together (Col 1:17).

Message: “Loving, Bearing, Forgiving” from Tom Leonard

A message from the series “Not Part of a Series.” Loving, Bearing, Forgiving
Colossians 3:12-17

Main Point :
God has chosen us as His people, and calls us to love, bear with each other, and forgive each other, just as He has done in Christ for us.

I Peter 2:9-10

1. We are to ‘clothe’ ourselves with the character qualities of Christ, putting off the old self and putting on the ‘new self’, expressed in compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.
vv. 9-12

2. We are to put on Love, which is expressed by bearing with each other’s failures, and forgiving each other’s grievances. vv. 13 – 14

Let us remember – Christ
did not give up on us!
