Main Point:

Through the trials He allows, God proves our faith in Jesus Christ genuine that it may result in praise!

1. Our inheritance in Christ is kept by God for us in heaven where it can never perish. (verses 3-4)
John 10:27-30
II Timothy 1:12

2. We must exercise our faith – trusting His Word and living a new life, sanctified and obedient. (verses 5, 2)
Romans 8:5-6

3. We are to rejoice in the trials, knowing that our faith is being tested and refined – proved Genuine, and result in praise.
Philippians 1:6

Ezekiel 36:25-27

Main Point:
God wants to renovate our hard hearts, and move us with Christ’s indwelling Spirit to live His way and obey Him.

Psalm 51:10-12 (A prayer of David)

He cleanses our hard hearts from all our impurities and idols.
verse 25

Jeremiah 17:9

He gives us a new heart and new spirit by the infilling of Christ’s Spirit.
verses 26-27

John 7:37-39

Christ’s Spirit in us moves us to follow His way and keep His laws.

‘Move’ = to effect an action or change.

Romans 8:26-27

Main Point:
Jesus has given us His Spirit to assist us in our weakness of mind and spirit.

Romans 8:12-16

1. We are weak in ourselves – we do not do as we should; we do what we should not;and do not know what we ought to pray. Verse 26

Romans 7:18-25

2. Christ’s Spirit assists us and intercedes in us and for us to be led on in God’s will. Verse 27

Ephesians 3:20

Ephesians 3:14-21

Main Point: Paul prays for us to have power through the Spirit: That we will be strengthened in our inner being, and be able to know the depth of Christ’s transforming love for us!

1. Power to be strengthened for Christ to dwell completely in our hearts. (vv. 16-17)

Ephesians 1:18-21

2. Power to know (experience) the depth of Christ’s love for us so that we may be filled to overflowing. (vv. 19-21)

Philippians 3:10-11

Acts 1:7-8

Main Point:
By His death and Resurrection, Jesus obtained the gift of the Holy Spirit for everyone of us who are His disciples.

We receive Christ’s Spirit who lives in us, fills and empowers us to be witnesses to lost people.

The primary purpose of the Holy Spirit’s fullness is to empower us to be witnesses of Christ. (verse 8)

If you are not actively witnessing of Jesus Christ then you are not living in the fullness of the Spirit.

Ephesians 5:15-18

Who has Jesus put in your circle of connection for you to witness to?

A message from the series “The Book of Acts.” The Resurrection – The Gift for Living

Main Point: By His death and Resurrection, Jesus obtained the gift of the Holy Spirit for everyone of us who are His disciples. We receive Christ’s Spirit who lives in us, fills and empowers us to be witnesses to lost people.

Luke 24:44-49

1. Repentance & transformed living is the first and most powerful fruit of our Spirit-filled witness.

Acts 2:32-33; 36-39

This Jesus, God has raised to life, and we are all witnesses to this fact. Exalted to the right hand of God, He has received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit, and has poured out what you now see and hear. …”Therefore let all Israel be assured that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ.”

When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said, ‘Brothers, what shall we do?’ Peter replied ”Repent and be baptized, everyone of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”

Repentance = turning from our sin, and turning from trusting in ourselves or anything else – to trusting only in Jesus Christ.

Baptism is the outward sign of repentance!

2. Testimony of who Jesus Christ is and what He has done comes from the work of the Holy Spirit in us.

Acts 2:22-24

‘Men of Israel, listen to this: Jesus of Nazareth was a man accredited by God to you by miracles, wonders, and signs, which God did among you through Him, as you yourselves know. This man was handed over to you by God’s set purpose and
foreknowledge; and you, with the help of wicked men, put him to death by nailing Him to the cross. But God raised Him from the dead, freeing Him the agony of death, because it was impossible for death to keep its hold on Him.’

3. All of us must be daily filled = (controlled!) by the Spirit of Jesus Christ in us!
