Sinai or Jesus?
Sinai or Jesus? Hebrews 12:18-29 Main Point: Through Jesus we have a way through Sinai to Mt. Zion (God’s Presence)! We don’t go around Sinai, we go through it by Jesus! 1. Sinai is the Old Covenant - based on keeping the law, with fearful and severe consequences. It points us to Jesus! verses 18-21 The Law’s purpose was to point out the impossibility of keeping it and point us to our need for Christ. Galatians 3:23-25 2. The new covenant, of which Christ is the mediator, is the only basis by which we come to Zion; to worship our Awesome God! verses 22-29 In Zion there is mercy, grace, forgiveness and restoration – all in His Presence through Jesus… We walk with him through life! v.27 – removed by shaking > Judgment II Peter 3:10-12
