CloseThe Real You & me! Romans 7:1-18 Main Point: We have died to sin and the Law, and have been raised with Christ to serve in the new way of the Spirit. So, why then do we still sin, doing the things we do not want to do? II Corinthians 5:17 1. We have been raised with Christ and serve in the new way of the indwelling Spirit. (verses 1-6) Romans 5:5 2. When we sin now, it is ‘sin living in me,’ that is my ‘flesh/sinful nature’ (verses 14-18) ‘Flesh/sinful nature’ (sarx) = the lower sensual nature of man apart from the Spirit of God. ‘Sin living in me’ = a compulsion toward sin that remains in my flesh (sinful nature). Galatians 5:16-18 3. The old sinful me is not the real me – the real me is the new, ‘raised in Christ me,’ who lives by the power of the indwelling Spirit! (verses 24-25) Romans 8:12-14
