John 15:26-27 We testify – not argue!

1. He convicts unbelievers of guilt, righteousness and judgment. (verses 8-11)

2. He is the Spirit of Truth – He takes what is from Jesus and makes it known to us. (internal) verses 13-15

3. He is the Spirit of Truth – He guides us into all truth, and tells us what is yet to come. (external) (verse 13)

Main Point:
Jesus sent the promise of the Father to His disciples then, that they would receive power to live and witness, and that same promise of Christ’s Spirit is for His disciples today

1. What was the promise of the Father? The indwelling Spirit! (verse 49)

2. To receive forgiveness of our sins and the promise of the
Spirit we must:

A. Repent of our unbelief and sins – verse 47

B. Be Baptized in the Name of Jesus Christ – Acts 2:38

3. The indwelling Spirit of Christ gives us power to live and be
His witnesses. (verse 49)

Messiah Jesus confronts the motives in our lives and demands we live in surrender to Him as Lord!

1. The People praised Jesus when He came riding into Jerusalem as the ‘King’, expecting that He would accomplish their agenda.

2. Messiah Jesus reveals that His Father will not tolerate us making Jesus into what we want Him to be or do for us!

Main Point:
Christ calls us to set our hearts and minds on the things of His kingdom, and to put to death the evil things that come from our sinful nature.

Heart & Mind = our will and thinking

1.We have been raised to new life in Christ!
verse 1

Verse 3 ‘Our life is now hidden with Christ…’

I Corinthians 2:12-16

2. Therefore, we are to set our new mind and will on the good values and priorities of His kingdom.
verse 2

Verse 10 ‘put on the new self which is being renewed…’

3. We must put to death all those evil, worldly things which belong to our old, sinful nature. Verse 5 – 9
